About Us 2

The Crew Company was founded back in 1997 in Los Angeles, by husband and wife team: Katy and David Henthorne. Their life together started in the entertainment industry working on the Paramount Pictures production of “Hard Copy”. Both of their resumes include work on Live Award Shows, an NBC Sit-Com, numerous Documentary Series Television shows, Talk Shows, etc. as producers and production managers. Then, the concept of The Crew Company was developed. There was no other Crewing Agency operated by production people who truly understood the demands of production–both on set and in the field. They knew what it took from the side of the Production Company, as well as the side of the Crew working in the field. A Crewing Agency is more than a list of freelancers….it is a respect for what each production needs. This idea, became The Crew Company, which quickly became the go-to company in the entertainment industry and beyond.

About The Co-Owners

Katy Henthorne

Katy graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, after studying Mass Communication and Speech. She began her television career at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood at the NBC sit-com: The Mommies. Thereafter spent several years with the show “Hard Copy”. She soon became the producer for the widely recognized segment “Caught on Tape”. Later, moved on to produce for shows including “The Leeza Show” (NBC), “How’d They Do That?” (TLC), “Paranormal Borderline” (FOX), “Amazing Tails” (Animal Planet), among others…. Katy started as a production assistant and worked her way up the ranks as a story coordinator, a writer and a Producer. As a former Producer, she has a vast understanding of the field requirements for your production. The Crew Company’s model was a vision of Katy’s after realizing people who utilize other crewing services were not getting everything they should be from other agencies. She strived for a new kind of booking company, and achieved this-while keeping the company small and personable.

The company was relocated from Los Angeles to Phoenix in 1999, where Katy and David, Crew Company co-owners presently reside, along with their two daughters.

David Henthorne

Originally from La Crosse, Wisconsin, David graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s in Arts degree and soon moved to Los Angeles where he began his television career. He has worked for fast-paced productions such as: “The Arsenio Hall Show”, “Hard Copy”, live-to-air award shows (The Grammy Awards, The Soul Train Awards, etc.), Then moved on to documentary series for The Discovery Channel, TLC, HGTV, and A&E. David was a Production Manager in the entertainment industry for over 10 years before co-founding The Crew Company. He knows that this type of camera crew booking service takes a large amount of stress away from the daily grind of production – the crew search, negotiation, and booking process.
